There are hundreds of names given to God in the Bible.
El Eloah, Mighty, Strong, Creator.
King of Judah
El Shaddai, God Almighty.
The Lion and The Lamb.
Jehova-Rapha, The Lord Who Heals.
Alpha and Omega
Jehova-Sabaoth, The Lord of Hosts.
Prince of Peace.
And my favorite: El Roi, The God Who Sees.
Jehova-Nissi means The Lord our Banner. It was used in Exodus 17:15 where banner is understood to be a rallying place.
Thinking of Robertson Hall, ornamented with banners illustrating 17 names of God, as a rallying place is a great image. Each day, the halls are filled with people training, preparing, and readying themselves for battle.
And whose banner do we raise above our heads as we march? Not our own. Not famous politicians or our favorite legal hero. Yahweh.
Simply, Lord.
